Description

On December 27, 2017, the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) received a complaint alleging that the Washington Political Action for Candidate Election (Committee), may have violated RCW 42.17A.235, .240, .205, .425 and .220 by failing to timely and accurately file contributions and expenditures, debt, committee registration information and books of account.

PDC staff reviewed the allegations/complaint and found that there were 16 reports that were filed late, mostly for small amounts. Staff noted that while the Committee failed to timely file some reports, the late filed reports contained minimal campaign related activities, resulting in minimal impact to the public. Staff further noted that the Committee showed a good faith effort by putting controls in place to make sure that its reports are filed timely in the future. Additionally, staff found on prior violations against the Committee.

Based on these findings, staff determined that the deficiencies found based on the review of the complaint did not warrant further investigation. However, staff issued a reminder to the Committee regarding the importance of filing timely and accurate contribution and expenditure reports in the future.

Accordingly, the PDC dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
