Olow, Shukri: Alleged violations of RCW 42.17A.405 by accepting contributions that exceed statutory limits. (EY '21; Jul '21)

Case

#96266

Respondent

Shukri Olow

Complainant

Taemin Um

Description

The complaint alleged Shukri Olow, a 2021 candidate for King County Council, Position 5, violated RCW 42.17A.405 by accepting, from individuals, $1,000 designated for the primary election and $1,000 designated for the general election.

Based on PDC staff findings, and the fact Olow is a first-time candidate and refunded the contributions when notified of the requirement, staff has determined in this instance, the Campaign’s acceptance of contributions more than $1,000 from an individual does not amount to a finding of a violation that warrants further investigation

PDC staff is reminding Shukri Olow about the importance of not accepting over-limit contributions and PDC staff expects the Campaign will not accept any contributions exceeding the contribution limits in the future, as required by law.

Based on this information, the PDC finds that no further action is warranted and has dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
