This is the time of year when many filers set up new campaigns using ORCA (Online Reporting of Campaign Activity) software.
A continuing political committee, such as a PAC or party committee, needs to make a new ORCA campaign at the start of the calendar year if it chooses the full reporting option.
One real time saver is to import contacts from an old campaign to your new one. You can import the names and addresses of your donors and vendors into the new ORCA campaign without having to retype all the information.
First, open the campaign that you wish to import contacts from.
Click on Accounts at the top, then Contacts.
Click on one of the contact types.
Check contacts for:
  • Missing names
  • Dashes. ORCA doesn't like to import dashes.
  • Unusual characters. Sometimes a special character, like a symbol or shape instead of a letter, can get into a contact. Delete those.
When you have cleaned up the contacts, follow our instructions to import them into your new campaign.
