The PDC’s online systems for public information access are a key component to fulfilling the agency’s mission. The last major update to the “query system” or "database" occurred more than 5 years ago.

The PDC will be partnering with members of the community to develop a complete replacement for the data access system.  The scope of the project will include both a new interface for casual browsing, deep data access and an open data interface for large data requests. Most importantly, the goals will be developed by the community.

The initial stakeholder meeting will bring definition to the overall scope of the project and develop a broad set of functional requirements.  This meeting will be an opportunity to participate in the project for anyone who has an interest in the data that the PDC makes available online.

The PDC is also recruiting members of the community to join the project team.  The recruits will assist the PDC staff with product planning and review. Team members will likely be asked to participate in up to three meetings per month where staff will demonstrate progress, solicit feedback and provide opportunities to test development versions of the new system.  Given the broad goals, we will likely have more than one team so there will be opportunities to participate on specific facets of the project.

More information about how you can join the project team will be available at this initial stakeholder meeting. Please feel free to forward this invitation to anyone who might be interested.
