Case

#20597

Description

The Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) has completed its review of the complaint filed by Roger Lenk on June 2, 2017. The complaint alleged that Pasco Citizens for Better Schools (Respondent), a political committee, may have violated RCW 42.17A.205 for failure to disclose the ballot number for ballot propositions supported in the February Special Elections of 2016 and 2017 on their Political Committee Registrations (C-1pc reports).

PDC staff reviewed the allegations; the applicable statutes, rules, and reporting requirements; the responses provided by the Respondent; the applicable PDC reports filed by the Respondent; and queried the Respondent’s data in the PDC contribution and expenditure database, to determine whether the record supports a finding of one or more violations.

Based on our findings staff has determined that, in this instance, failure to report the number of ballot propositions supported by the committee in 2016 and 2017, do not amount to violations that warrant further investigation.

PDC staff is reminding Pasco Citizens for Better Schools about the importance of the timely, complete, and accurate disclosure of all required details at the point of registration as a political committee, including the numbers of ballot propositions or names of candidates supported or opposed. PDC staff expects the Pasco Citizens for Better Schools to disclose the number of ballot propositions supported or opposed by the committee in future years.

Based on this information, the PDC finds that no further action is warranted and has dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
