Description

The complaint alleged that Joel Kretz, incumbent State Representative in Legislative District 7, Position 2, may have violated: (1) RCW 42.17A.700 for failure to accurately, completely and truthfully file F-1 reports; (2) RCW 42.17A.710 for failure to disclose creditor information related to past-due taxes owed to the Okanogan County Assessor’s Office; and (3) RCW 42.17A.710 for failure to disclose revenue of the business Promised Land Ranch of which he is 100% owner.

PDC staff reviewed the allegations; the applicable statutes, rules, and reporting requirements; the response provided by Joel Kretz; and the applicable PDC reports filed by Respondent, to determine whether the record supports a finding of one or more violations.

Although the initially submitted F-1 reports were incomplete, Representative Kretz submitted amendments prior to the 2018 primary election ballots were mailed.

Based on these findings staff has determined that, in this instance, failure to accurately file F-1 reports and failure to disclose creditor information related to past-due taxes owed to the Okanogan County Assessor’s Office, does not amount to an actual violation warranting further investigation.

PDC staff reminded Representative Joel Kretz about the importance of filing accurate Personal Financial Affairs Statements (PDC form F-1) in future years in accordance with PDC laws and rules.

Based on this information, the PDC finds that no further action is warranted and has dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
