Description

On May 25, 2016, the Washington Attorney General and King County Prosecutor received notice from Knoll Lowney of his intent to commence a Citizens Action under RCW 42.17A.765(4) against Tim Eyman, Jack Fagan, Mike Fagan, Barbara Smith, and Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs – VWMC – 2016 for alleged violations of RCW 42.17A.  The notice was provided on behalf of Washingtonians for Ethical Government.


The Citizen Action notice alleged that the Respondents including Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs – VWMC – 2016 failed to properly disclose expenses incurred in March 2016 for Independent Expenditures opposing 54 candidates for legislative office, alleged violations of RCW 42.17A.235 and .240.  The notice further alleged that the communications at issue failed to comply with the sponsor identification requirement for Independent Expenditure political advertising under RCW 42.17A.320.


On June 7, 2016, PDC staff received a copy of the complaint from the AGO with a request to review and investigate.


The 45th day following the Citizen Action notice is July 9, 2016.  The 55th day is July 19, 2016.
