Description

The complaint alleged Sanjeev Yonzon, a 2021 candidate for Renton City Council Position 1, violated RCW 42.17A.205, .235 and .240 by failing to timely register with the PDC and timely and accurately report contributions and expenditures on Monetary Contributions (C-3) reports and Full Summary Contributions and Expenditures (C-4) reports. 

Yonzon filed the C-4 report for May 2021 on July 2, 2021. This report was filed 22 days late. Yonzon filed the 21-day and 7-day pre-primary C-4 reports timely. Yonzon mistakenly filed a 2021 post-primary report on July 9, 2021 and indicated to PDC staff the report will be amended on its due date, September 10, 2021. 

Based on these findings, and the fact that is a first-time candidate and there is no apparent intent to conceal candidacy or contributors, the candidate promptly took action to comply and timely filed both the 21-day and 7-day pre-primary C-4 reports, PDC staff has determined that, in this instance, the failure to timely register with the PDC and timely and accurately report contributions and expenditures does not amount to a violation warranting further investigation.

PDC staff is reminding about the importance of timely registering with the PDC and filing required reports in accordance with PDC laws and rules. 

Based on this information, the PDC finds that no further action is warranted and has dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
