Rule Making

Following a public hearing, the Commission adopted:

  • new rule WAC 390-37-182 Penalty factors  and
  • amended WAC 390-05-0400 Changes in dollar amounts

Advisory Matters

Dimitri Iglitzin, counsel for the Washington State Labor Council and Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Lynn Dodson, Secretary Treasurer of the Washington State Labor Council, requested the Commission change the process for authorizing campaign contributions through payroll deduction to accommodate electronic authorizations.  The Commission agreed to consider the request and will proceed at its February meeting.

Discussion regarding evolving technology and campaigns continued from the December 2012 meeting.  Two issues were focused on:  disclaimers required for online political advertising and mass Emails.  The Commission agreed that staff should incorporate their thoughts into the existing interpretations and political advertising rule and present those drafts for the Commission’s consideration at the next meeting.

The Commission meeting materials can be found at www.pdc.wa.gov under Commission Meetings. For additional information concerning these issues contact Lori Anderson, Communications & Training Officer, at (360) 664-2737, toll free 1-877-601-2828 or e-mail at landerson@pdc.wa.gov.

The next regular meeting of the Public Disclosure Commission is tentatively scheduled for February 28, 2013.
