PDC staff may contact filers advising them that a report appears to be missing or incomplete, asking for clarification of a report or requesting additional information. Please cooperate with these informal contacts and supply the requested information promptly.
Each year, a limited number of candidates, political committees, incidental committees, lobbyists or lobbyist employers may be the subject of random audits. These audits are routine. An audit may be in-depth and the filer will be asked to make available all records, including receipts and other documentation. To see past findings, check our audit page.
Audits also are conducted for cause because a complaint has been received or there is reason to believe disclosure reports are not accurate. If you are the subject of such an audit, be assured you will have every opportunity to explain your position.
