  • Allegation: Violations of RCW 42.17A.235 & .240 for failure to report legal service expenditures.

The PDC dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1) and will not be conducting a more formal investigation into these allegations or taking further enforcement action in this matter.

  • On March 27, 2023, Derek Schoonmaker, an attorney with Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt LLP, notified the PDC that his firm had recently been retained to assist 509 Forward in its response to your complaint. 
  • Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt, LLP provided legal consulting services during March and April 2023, and on April 11, 2023, sent a response to the allegations in the compliant for PDC Case 122194.
  • On May 31, 2023, the PDC dismissed Case 122194 with a formal warning.
  • On June 12, 2023, 509 Forward Sponsored by Lisa Brown for Congress filed a C-4 report of contributions and expenditures for the month of May 2023. The report included an in-kind contribution received on May 10, 2023, valued at $631.50, from Blue Wave Political Partners, LLC for legal services provided by Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt, LLP.
  • 509 Forward PAC Sponsored by Lisa Brown for Congress was not required to report an obligation to Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt, LLP on its March or April C-4 report because the total value of the services received was not greater than the reporting threshold, which was $750 in March and $1,000 in April.
  • The May C-4 report was amended on June 30, 2023 to include the address of the vendor providing the services.
