Complainant

Description

On October 3, 2024, the Public Disclosure Commission received a complaint alleging that Edward Cale IV (Respondent), a 2024 candidate for Governor in the State of Washington, may have violated RCW 42.17A.235 and .240 by failing to disclose contributions and expenditures, and RCW 42.17A.320 by failing to include full sponsor identification language on his political campaign website.

PDC staff reviewed the allegations in the complaint and found that the Respondent failed to include a complete sponsor identification language to include the sponsor's name and full mailing address on his campaign website. Regarding the allegation about the failure to disclose contributions and expenditures, the staff noted that the Respondent properly disclosed his campaign contributions and expenditures.

Based on these findings, staff determined that the deficiencies found based on the review of the complaint did not warrant further investigation. However, staff issued a formal written warning to the respondent regarding the importance of including complete sponsor identification language on his campaign website in the future.

Accordingly, the PDC dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
