The Public Disclosure Commission has notified 83 candidates that they appeared to have missed the deadline for the mandatory 21-day pre-primary election expenditure report.
State law requires all candidates who are participating in the primary election and are registered under full reporting (required for those who raise and spend more than $7,000) to file expenditure reports — known as C-4 reports — 21 and 7 days prior to the election, and on the 10th day of the month following the election regardless of campaign activity.
The pre-primary election report due on July 15 covered campaign spending during the period between June 1 and July 14. Candidates had until July 16 to file the report due toa one-day grace period created by a July 15 outage on Secure Access Washington, the sign-in service required to access PDC filing systems.
The PDC maintains a list of filing deadlines and other reporting resources on its website, and candidates and campaigns receive email notification of upcoming filing dates.
