Each year, elected and many appointed officials in Washington owe a personal financial affairs statement, or F-1 report, to the Public Disclosure Commission by April 15. New candidates owe the report within two weeks of beginning their candidacy.

With that deadline approaching, take this opportunity to refresh your reporting skills at one of our free, virtual classes on understanding the F-1.

Trainings are scheduled for Feb. 11, March 18, April 1 and April 8. Please register in advance for one of these two-hour trainings. You will receive a link to join the online meeting on the day before the class takes place.

PDC staff have also scheduled less formal lunch and learn sessions, which include a short presentation and plenty of time for questions and answers, for noon on March 24 and April 28. The first will be geared toward annual F-1 filers, while the second is intended for candidates. Register here.

F-1 reports have been required since the creation of the PDC in 1972, with the passage of Initiative 276. The reports are intended to reveal potential conflicts of interest for candidates and officials in Washington.

If you can’t attend a class, information on filing an F-1 is available on our website and on the PDC’s YouTube channel.
