Attorney, former journalist Lisa Kremer appointed to Public Disclosure Commission

Governor Bob Ferguson has appointed a new member to the Public Disclosure Commission: Tacoma attorney Lisa Kremer.

Kremer was a reporter with The News Tribune of Tacoma for more than a decade before graduating from the University of Washington School of Law in 2008. She currently practices at Vandenberg Johnson Gandara PS in Tacoma, focusing on estate planning, probate, trusts and intellectual property.

“I really believe in open government, and campaign finance disclosure laws are a key part of that,” Kremer said. “We’re putting our confidence and our faith in our candidates when we vote for them, so we need to know their motivations.”

Kremer said she became familiar with PDC’s role in collecting and publishing campaign finance data as a journalist, and is looking forward to helping implement Washington’s campaign finance law as a PDC commissioner.

She has been involved in leadership in volunteer boards including Tacoma Arts Live, the Washington State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, and fostered dozens of pets for the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society.

Kremer’s first meeting with the PDC will be on August 27. She is filling the unexpired term formerly held by Jim Oswald, who resigned in June. Her term will last through December 2028.
